How does this help you? Well, let’s go over it. Before you start hitting on your hands, you are provided with the chance to switch your cards. For example, if you are given in one hand a five card (face up) and a ten card (face down), and in the other hand a nine card (face up) and a five card (face down), you would have two weak hands that have high potential for busting if you hit. Doesn’t really help you much, does it? But what if you could switch your face up cards? That would mean that in one hand you would now be holding a sum of 19 and in the other a sum of ten. The 19 is a strong hand to stand on and the ten is a great hand to hit on. This one little switch really ups your chances of beating the dealer and taking home the pot. And the best part is if you are dealt two good hands initial, you don’t have to switch cards if you don’t want. It is completely optional!
But keep one thing in mind, if you opt to switch cards, the payout changes to 1:1. If you don’t switch your cards, the payout is 3:2. But either way, if you can win and not lose, then that is something! Also, because you have the opportunity to switch, the dealer busts at holding 23 or higher. If the dealer has 22 and you don’t have blackjack, the game is called a push.
